Review - The Debt Diet
Description: This book is chock full of practical advice on saving, spending and investing your money. Review: If you're looking for an easy to read, practical book on how to save money by investing and tips on how to spend money, this book is the right one. I like the humor in this book. Finances can be a stressful and frustrating part of our lives. I've been known to read the first chapter in a book about finances and become so stressed that I just throw the book away. The humor about the way we spend money, save money and invest money in this book kept me from doing that. Being so easy to read and understand was also helpful. Sometimes when you get into this type of book, you find the words and the way they are put so far over your head - feels like you're drowning in the debt terminology on top of the actual debt. This book is easy to understand and doesn't use words that make you stop and say. "Hu?" The examples in this book are down to earth, everyday examples. Most of us are in the same boat as far as the bottom line on our finances. These examples are things we all go through. It made me realize that other people are in the same prediciment and if they can do it so can I. This book also brings some Christianity into the finance world. It doesn't specify on the book that it follows Christian views but that doesn't bother me. Having the Christian money management part in this book helped me tremendously and I'm glad it was included. This book has quizzes to help you determine your financial knowledge. It also contains checklists that will help you see where you are and where you're going. I liked both of these ideas because it gave me the insight I needed to my financial knowledge and myself. I enjoyed this book and have come away from it with a better understanding of my financial world and myself. It has helped to educate me about what I know and what I need to know. It didn't give me the answers, but it sent me on a path to finding those answers and getting my finances in order.
